Draft pending legal review. This is accurate to how Chide works today, but a solicitor has not reviewed it yet. That happens before anyone outside the team uses the app.
What we have about you
- Your email address, date of birth, handle and display name.
- What you post — photos, videos, text posts, comments — and who you sent it to.
- Reports and blocks you make, or that involve you.
- Basic technical details, like your device model and app version, when something breaks.
We do not track where you go. If you attach a place to a post, we store that place and nothing else — there is no location history.
What we use it for
To run Chide: your account, your posts, your friends. To keep people safe: reviewing reports and stopping abuse. That's it — there are no ads, and we never sell your data.
How long we keep it
- Stories delete themselves after 24 hours.
- Posts stay until you delete them or your account.
- If you delete your account, your data is gone within 30 days.
- Content that has been reported may be kept longer while it is reviewed, and where the law requires us to keep it. That is the one case deleting your account does not delete — we keep only what the law makes us keep, for only as long as it makes us.
Who else touches it
Companies that run things for us: Supabase stores data in London, Mux handles video, Apple handles sign-in. They work under our instructions and cannot use your data for themselves. We share data with the authorities only where the law requires it.
If you are 16 or 17
Your account starts private, and you cannot attach a public location to a post. You can switch your account to public in settings if you choose to — it is your call, but it starts private for a reason.
Your rights
You can get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it — deletion is in the app, under Settings. For anything else, email privacy@chide.app and we will reply within a month. If you are not happy with how we have handled something, you can complain to the ICO — though we would rather you told us first.
Changes
If we change this in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app first.
